Cosseted mummy’s boy Edgard realises the time has come to contract an advantageous marriage… all that stands in the way is his ongoing dalliance with the housemaid, who has no intention of finding herself jilted! A mordant satire of class, money and sexual mores, Labiche’s sparkling comedy remains utterly contemporary and utterly hilarious.
